This is Alton Brown's method for cooking brown rice. This is the only way I've found that delivers consistently perfect rice!

Ingredients

* 1 1/2 cups brown rice, medium or short grain
* 2 1/2 cups water
* 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
* 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Place the rice into an 8-inch square glass baking dish.

Bring the water, butter, and salt just to a boil in a kettle or covered saucepan. Once the water boils, pour it over the rice, stir to combine, and cover the dish tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 1 hour.

After 1 hour, remove cover and fluff the rice with a fork. Serve immediately.

I'll have to give this a try. I've never been able to make brown rice come out right.

I made some last night - one batch on the stove and one in the microwave that I found a "recipe" for. The microwaved kind worked. Brown rice is my worst enemy in the kitchen. If I had the time last night I would have given this a shot. Next time!

I actually managed to successfully make brown rice on the stove top for the first time in my life last week, but this is still my go-to recipe. I usually make a batch on Sunday and keep it in the fridge to serve as needed or use in fried rice.
